Wroclaw

The last few days in Wroclaw were pretty beautiful. Lots of sun and people wandering around the city. Of course the Slodowa Island was the perfect spot for students but you could enjoy the market square or other places with the same sunny attitude.

After exiting my home I couldn't resist to take few spring 
photographs somewhere around Piekna Street.

My actual trip started from the  church of St. Stanislaw Kostka. 
It has a really beautiful stained glass.

Then I entered the Railway Station.

It is newly renovated building (293 million PLN investment !) and right now Wroclaw can be proud of such railway station.

The station also has the surrounding grounds to match, with a green public square and dozens of benches plus two playful fountains.

After exiting the station i went to see the Anonymous Pedestrians Monument.Those bronze statues descending into the earth are based o Jerzy Kalina's temporary art installation set up in Warsaw in 1977.  Original sculptures were stored in the Wroclaw 
National Museum for 28 years.

Statues were re-cast in bronze and unveiled on the 24th anniversary of the introduction of martial law in Poland. According to one interpretation, the refreshed artwork is meant as a tribute to those who worked in underground organisations to undermine the regime.

Then I saw the Opera House

and finally - the Medieval Market Square

I also couldn’t resist to join my friends who were grilling on Slodowa Island.

On my way I crossed the Wroclaw University building.

The island was a bit crowdy, but you can’t find a second place like that in Wroclaw when its full spring.

On the way back The University looked even more impressive.

Poland – Wroclaw

Wroclaw is one of the most friendly cities in Poland. It’s full of students and travelers. On the medieval market square you may find musicians or people blowing soap bubbles. It’s a very lively place, full of colours. It is one of the largest markets in Europe, with the largest two city halls in Poland.

You should definitely see the old city hall. The structure is one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks, particularly for its distinctive eastern facade.

One of the most beautiful places in Wroclaw is located very closely to Market square ( 5 minute walk) and it’s called Ostrow Tumski. The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is the central point.

The way leading to the Cathedral is also very captivating.

Behind the Cathedral you will see Metropolitan Higher Seminary building.

To enter the Ostrow Tumski you need to cross Tumski Bridge. Few years ago people started to hang the “love padlocks” there. Some may think it’s a lovely idea.

Cathedral street is probably one of the most beautiful backstreets in Wroclaw today — with a beautiful view on the cathedral, going after it’s both sides lines of completely restored Renaissance tenements lighted up with the lights of street lamps.

On the Church Square, in front of the Collegiate of the saint Cross and the saint Bartholomeus church one can admire the largest baroque monument in Wroclaw, the monument of John Nepomucen, founded in 1732.

You should also see the old Market Hall.

Inside, you may buy yourself a lot of things! starting from fruits ending on clothes or lovely ceramic.

Maria and Lech Kaczyńscy Boulevard is also a place worth visiting.

Once you had crossed the Boulevard you will see Gondola Bay and the National Museum.

 The above photos and places are just only a few from my yesterday walk.
